RIT Archives StoryBooth with Aaliyah John, SHED Open House, 2024-01-18

AALIYAH JOHN: Hello, my name is Aaliyah. Um, and for today I'll be responding to questions A and B for the RIT Archives StoryBooth. So, first thing, "What's something new that I learned about the SHED today?" Well, I learned about the amount of tools and resources that it has. I knew the SHED was a place 00:00:30for creative-- creative mind sets, but I didn't know about the vast amount of tools that they have. The many amounts of 3D printing machines, like the resin printing one and just the regular film 3D printing one, the sizes that it can vary in. And that it's fully accessible to students, staff, faculty, whomever. I think that's a really cool thing. Um, I really do think that it has something 00:01:00that. um, is really great for students, which is students like me who just always like to do things, create things, make things. And, I like my experience today so far. I don't know. It really like... It intrigued me. I think my interest in 3D printing and 00:01:30just creating art has expanded. I definitely will be using this space a lot in the future, um, especially the many years that I have and knowing that this place will be here. Pretty much for my whole journey at RIT. Um, that has made me super happy. I was, it was so overwhelming the amount of cool things you can see. They had the boots downstairs that-- Who build robots and 00:02:00and, and uh, rockets. Who builds rockets and a Formula 1, Formula Race and even a solder (unintelligable), and, which is something that always intrested-- Was an interest of mine. We can, like, put things together where you have a tech and you need to adjust a few things is resources here that can help you do that. I think a little trinkets you can make just 00:02:30to... Of how maybe send to family, friends, to keep in your room. I just think everything was just really cool. And it was so nice and helpful. And yeah, I think this place is really going to be. um, important for a lot of students. And very useful for them. I think this was a great idea. I think they pulled it off spectacularly.
